Prestigious Leapfrog distinction recognizes Lawrence General's achievements in protecting patients
from preventable harm and error in the hospital
Lawrence General Hospital received an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for Fall 2022. This national distinction recognizes Lawrence General’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error in the hospital. It is the first time Lawrence General has received back to back 'A' honors from the Leapfrog group.
“This prestigious Leapfrog ‘A’ reflects the Lawrence General team’s outstanding commitment to health, safety and quality improvements for our patients," Deborah J. Wilson, Lawrence General’s president and CEO said. "The pandemic certainly tested all of us and this Leapfrog ‘A’ is a testament to the fact that no matter the challenges, our Lawrence General team remains steadfastly dedicated to providing outstanding care to the people we serve from across of the Merrimack Valley and beyond.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated biannually in the fall and spring.
“I applaud the hospital leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance, so that they can best protect patients. Your hospital team should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement.”
