Emergency Center Expectations for Friends, Family Members
Updated February 23, 2021
At this time, visitors are not allowed in Lawrence General’s Emergency Center. This is due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors can remain in their cars or return home. A patient’s personal belongings can get lost and we cannot be responsible for them. You should bring all valuables home with you.
Visitors can talk directly with patients by personal phone. Family members may be contacted by our medical team in difficult situations. Please provide our registration staff with the patient’s designated contact and current phone number.
If you are unable to reach the patient directly, you can call a member of the care team at 978-683-4000, extension 2500. Evaluations can take several hours, so we ask that patients have one individual receive updates and distribute information to additional family members and friends.
If your family member is admitted, we have made additional efforts to keep you informed and connected with your loved one. The patient’s lead provider will make every effort to provide an update to the designated family member by 4 pm each day. Questions can also be answered by the clinician.
Our staff can help you connect by video call or speaker phone for the patient’s update. The patient must agree to this. Please ask a care team member to help.
Stay connected with your loved one at: www.lawrencegeneral.org/StayConnected
Patients who are discharged after being admitted can be picked up in the main lobby of the hospital.
We realize that this is a stressful time. We appreciate your understanding.
