May 21, 2019

A large and attentive audience gathered at the Rogers Center for the Arts at Merrimack College—a new venue for the event—on April 29 for Lawrence General’s sixth annual Healthcare Leadership Summit. This year’s focus was on the social determinants of health—where people live, work, learn, play, and pray—and the impact they have on vulnerable patient populations.

The keynote speaker for the event was renowned public health leader Howard Koh, MD, MPH, former U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services during the Obama administration and current Professor of the Practice of Public Health Leadership at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Additional Speakers included Davida Schiff, MD, Medical Director, MGH Hope Clinic; Vilma Martínez-Dominguez, Community Development Director, City of Lawrence; and Robert Sege, MD, PhD, Center for Community-Engaged Medicine, Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies. Dan Hale, MD, chief professional development officer and organizer of the event, served as the master of ceremonies.
