Meet Our Board of Trustees


Trustees

Dennis A. Conlin

Mr. Conlin is the owner and president of Conlin’s Pharmacy, Inc. in Methuen, serving the Merrimack Valley region for more than 100 years. Conlin’s provides traditional community, specialty and long term care pharmacy services as well as medical equipment and supplies to a wide range of customers in various home care settings.

Mr. Conlin currently serves as a member of the board of directors for a variety of trade associations, including Retailers Association of Massachusetts and Home Medical Equipment and Services Association of New England. In addition he gives of his time generously to local community organizations and has served on the board of the Central Catholic High School in Lawrence.

Mr. Conlin chairs the Quality Committee and Compliance, Audit and Risk Committee of the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees. He is an Andover resident.

Eduardo Haddad, MD

Dr. Haddad is president of the Lawrence General Hospital Medical Staff and the physicians’ representative on the Board of Trustees. A resident of North Andover, Dr. Haddad has been seeing patients in Lawrence and the Merrimack Valley for three decades. He is a practicing nephrologist who trained at Massachusetts General Hospital and strongly advocates for the value of locally delivered health care. Dr. Haddad serves as medical director for DaVita dialysis in North Andover, and for the acute dialysis unit at Whittier Rehabilitation hospital in Bradford, MA.

Jonathan G. Isaacson

Mr. Isaacson is the president of The Gem Group, Inc, going to market as Gemline, a privately held, multiple award-winning supplier of bags, business accessories, stationary, and gifts to the promotional products market. Gemline has been recognized as one of the 20 largest companies in the industry. It has its primary operation in Lawrence, Massachusetts, with a facility in Shenzhen, China.

Mr. Isaacson lived in Asia in the early 1990's and has been working internationally for more than 25 years. He serves on various committees of the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees, including the Executive Committee, and chairs the Governance Committee. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Lawrence Committee, and the Board of Overseers of the Brigham and Woman’s hospital.

Mr. Isaacson has served on the Board of the Young Presidents’ Organization of New England as Membership Chair, Education Chair, and Chapter Chair.He has also served on the Advisory Board of pet product distributor, PetEdge, the Editorial Advisory Board of Supplier Global Resource, the Strategic Planning Committee of the Promotional Products Association, the PPAI Product Responsibility Action Group, and was a founding member of the Board of the Quality Certification Alliance. In 2008, he was named The Counselor Magazine’s International Person of the Year. He has been on the Counselor Power 50 list since its inception and continues to speak at many shows and events in the promotional product market.

Mr. Isaacson lives in Lexington, Massachusetts with his wife and has three children in college.

Mark B. Johnson, Esq.

Mr. Johnson is founder of Johnson & Borenstein LLC, a mid-size real estate and civil litigation law firm located in Andover. He has been practicing in Andover since 1986. Johnson’s law firm focuses on all aspects of real estate, including real estate development, land use planning and permitting, resolution of title disputes and permitting appeals, and representing clients in residential, commercial and construction financing and transactions. In addition, the firm represents clients in a variety of corporate and civil litigation matters. The firm has attorneys admitted to practice in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and the District of Columbia.

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Johnson attended The American University in Washington, D.C. and the Boston University School of Law. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Real Estate Bar Association and the New Hampshire Bar Association.

During his time in Andover, Johnson has held leadership roles in several community organizations, including the Service Club of Andover, CLASS, Inc., High Plain - Wood Hill School Building Committee, and Bancroft School Building Committee. Currently he serves on the Town of Andover Permanent Town Building Advisory Committee, the West Elementary School Building Committee, the Andover High School Facilities Study Committee and is on the Board of Directors of the Lanam Club. He was the recipient of the Rotary Club of Andover’s Citizens Who Care Award in 2003.

Shaun Rodriguez

Mr. Rodriguez is a senior research analyst at Casdin Capital, a life science-dedicated institutional investment fund based in New York City. At Casdin, Mr. Rodriguez leads research and investment management activities in areas including medical technology, healthcare services, diagnostics, and synthetic biology. Prior to his current position, he was director in equity research at Cowen and Company in Boston.

Mr. Rodriguez grew up in the Merrimack Valley and resides in Andover. He holds a PhD from Harvard University, MS from Tufts University, and BS from the University of Maine. He was nominated to join the Board of Trustees at Lawrence General Hospital and confirmed in April of 2017.

Norman F. Rodgers, DDS

  A resident of Andover, Dr. Rogers is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Dental Medicine. He has practiced in Methuen for many years, with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Rogers is active in both the Merrimack Valley District Dental Society, where he served as the district secretary for 14 years, and the Massachusetts Dental Society. Dr. Rogers serves on the Lawrence General Trustee Quality Appraisal Committee and the Finance Committee and has served on the board for two years.

Richard J. Santagati, Chairman Emeritus

Mr. Santagati has served on the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees since 1988. In that time, he has been a member and chair of every board committee, and was the board chair from 2006 until 2013. Because of his long years of service, Mr. Santagati now serves in the role of chairman emeritus. He was president of Merrimack College from 1994 to 2008 and has served on the boards of several national corporations, including Revlon.

He is a strong supporter of local health care and Lawrence General, in particular. He was the lead donor in the campaign to build the new surgery center at Lawrence General, which bears his family’s name in honor of his years of service and generosity. In 2015, Mr. Santagati was recognized for his philanthropic leadership by the New England Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, receiving it’s Distinguished Service to Philanthropy Award. In addition, in 2014 Lawrence General instituted an annual award for civic leadership in Mr. Santagati’s name.

Gabrielle Ross

Gabrielle Ross, PhD, joined the Board of Trustees in January 2019. Dr. Ross is an international health policy expert, with 30 years of focus on effective strategies for addressing health disparities and the social determinants of health, innovative service delivery strategies, and women’s health and gender equity. She has worked in developing countries and with the World Health Organization, and currently is executive director of Health Quarters. Health Quarters is a primary provider of sexual and reproductive health care with locations in Beverly, Haverhill and Lawrence.


Debra Rahmin Silberstein, Esq.

Ms. Silberstein, an Andover resident, is a partner at Burns & Levinson, LLP, specializing in trusts, estates, philanthropic and tax-related matters and elder law. She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Syracuse University, and earned her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law. Ms. Silberstein also has a PhD in Social Policy from the Heller School, Brandeis University. She is an active member of the Massachusetts Bar and the Lawrence Bar Association, as well as the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys.

In addition to her volunteer work on the Lawrence General Board, Ms. Silberstein is also a member of the Board of Visitors at McLean Hospital, and a member of the American Hospital Association Governance Committee. Debra is a consultant to the Sillerman Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy at Brandeis University's Heller School, and also serves on the Planned Giving Advisory Council for the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Silberstein is a former member of the Finance Committee (and chair) of the Andover School Committee.

Laurel Sweeney

Ms. Sweeney is a seasoned market access and policy professional with subject matter expertise in health policy, value-based care, reimbursement, health economics, and medical technology. She is passionate about the transformation of health care enabled by medical technology, digital medicine, and telehealth.

Until March 2018, Ms. Sweeney was the global lead for Health Economics and Market Access at Philips Healthcare. Prior to that, she held leadership roles in state and federal government relations. Her product knowledge and experience include imaging and patient monitoring, standalone and integrated solutions, and digital health and telehealth. After leaving Philips Healthcare, Ms. Sweeney launched Access Strategies, LLC, to assist medical technology, digital health, and telehealth innovators to shape their value proposition and go-to-market strategies through the lens of critical financial stakeholder(s).

Currently, Ms. Sweeney serves as an appointed member of the American Medical Association’s Digital Medicine Payment Advisory Group; appointed member, Advisory Committee, Massachusetts Health Policy Council; board of directors and advisor for Made Visible Foundation, whose mission is to create projects in the world of medicine designed to transform the patient experience; serves on the advisory board for Elevate New England, an organization focused on at-risk youth in local high schools.

William P. Wall

Mr. Wall is a managing member of OQ Partners, LLC, a private investment firm headquartered in Lexington, Massachusetts that invests in small start-up businesses across an array of industries. He has more than 27 years of experience in the investment industry as an investor and attorney, and has participated in a wide variety of transactions in public and private markets and asset classes.

Mr. Wall serves as a corporate director for Haynes International, Inc., STAAR Surgical Company, and Altisource Residential Corp, serving all three on their Corporate Governance and Audit and Compensation Committees. From February 2006 until June 2015, Mr. Wall served as general counsel of Abrams Capital Management, LLC, a value-oriented investment firm headquartered in Boston. Prior to joining Abrams Capital, Mr. Wall was a partner at a hedge fund for two years and was employed with Fidelity Investments for seven years, concluding as a managing director in its private investment group. He is a graduate of Harvard Law, John F. Kennedy School of Government, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mr. Wall resides in Andover with his wife Denise, and they have four children.
