The Lawrence General Hospital Auxiliary
The Lawrence General Hospital Auxiliary is a dedicated and enthusiastic group of friends from Andover, North Andover, Lawrence and other surrounding communities who assist the Hospital through a variety of revenue-generating projects, outreach activities, and public relations efforts. The Auxiliary was founded in 1950 and continues, under the leadership of a Board of Directors, to be an invaluable asset to the Hospital. Auxiliary volunteers serve as hospital ambassadors within their respective communities – spreading news and updates about the Hospital's expanding services, successes, and needs.
Auxiliary Meetings - Mingle, Learn, Join
The Auxiliary Board of Directors meets the first Thursday of each month from September through June. Prospective Auxiliary members are invited to learn about the good works of the Auxiliary, hear an update on the latest Hospital programs and services, and find out how they can help.
A Fund Raising Force
Through the many activities it organizes and sponsors, the Auxiliary has raised nearly $2.5 million over the past 50 years! In the past three years, the Auxiliary raised and contributed over $80,000 to the renovation of the new Inpatient Pediatric Center, to the Patient/Visitor Satisfaction Campaign and to help build a new Simulation and Team Training Lab at LGH. The Auxiliary also donated one of the new granite benches just outside the Main Lobby doors at Lawrence General. Other Auxiliary gifts have supported the hospital in opening the Emergency Center, Maternal Child Heath in purchasing infant isollettes and pediatric cribs, support materials for Breast Care Services, and replacement and upgrades of vital medical technologies throughout our hospital.
Auxiliary members conduct tours for children from local pre-school programs throughout the school year. Children visit Hospital areas such as Radiology and the Pediatric Playroom, learn about medical equipment, try on surgical hats and masks and have a snack. The Children's Tours program is designed to familiarize children with hospital settings and to make a potential hospital stay less frightening.
The LGH Thrift Shop, located across the street from the Hospital, sells new and gently used clothing and accessories to the public. Donated goods, many with designer labels still attached, are sold at very reasonable prices. The Auxiliary selects choice items from the Thrift Shop and organizes a special sale day at the Hospital for staff and visitors. This special sale is held two to three times a year.
Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
