Meet Our Spine Surgeons & Physiatrists
Medical management options within our spine treatment center may include combinations of physical therapy, oral medications and/or injections of medicine into the relevant areas of the spine in order to reduce swelling or inflammation. Our Spine Program includes specially trained physiatrists (rehabilitation physicians) who can manage these options with you. They perform minimally invasive procedures at Lawrence General’s main campus to help patients with neck and back pain.
Spine Surgeons Serving Lawrence, MA
Our spine surgeons (orthopedic and neurologic surgeons) perform a variety of operations to alleviate the effect of neck and back issues. The symptoms they treat with surgery include numbness or heaviness in the limbs, and pain that radiates into the limbs. These surgeons will assess your individual situation and recommend options. Generally, you can be seen quickly, if necessary, and we work hard to be sure you can be scheduled for surgery in a time frame that is comfortable for you. Patients who undergo surgery for spine issues will also be referred for rehabilitation to help regain strength and mobility after surgery.
Inpatient Post-Surgical Care
Spine surgery patients generally spend a day or two in the hospital after their surgery. You’ll be brought to your room, where you will begin the process of recovering from your surgery, including getting back on your feet.
You will leave the hospital with a plan in hand to continue your recovery, including follow up with your surgeon, physical therapy referral, and instructions on the process and timing for getting back to normal activity.
