Why Do You Have a Clinic Visit Scheduled?

The sleep clinic was established to assist with management of patients who have or are suspected of having sleep disorders. Your provider can refer you to the sleep clinic for a general consult, just like any other referral to a specialist.

It is more likely that you will have a clinic visit scheduled after you have completed a sleep study. The process for following up and managing equipment after a sleep study can be difficult and confusing, even for physicians. Our sleep specialists are experts in this area, so quite frequently, referring doctors choose to have them manage your sleep care after your study is complete.

You typically have a clinic appointment with a sleep specialist scheduled at one of the following times:

  • Following completion a home sleep test 
  • Three months after PAP equipment is set-up; this is usually referred to as a compliance visit 
  • Follow-ups at the discretion of the sleep specialists that might be 4 months, 6 months or even a year after your compliance visit

As with all appointments, it is very important to show-up on time. There are regulations in place by insurance companies that determine when and if they will pay for your equipment. Missing scheduled appointments may affect whether or not you get to keep your equipment.
