Monthly self-breast exams, a yearly breast exam by your physician and mammography are essential in the early detection of abnormalities.
Lawrence General Hospital offers breast health services that include:
- Digital mammography
- Breast ultrasound
- Stereotactic biopsy
- Breast MRI (North Andover site)
- Certified Breast Health Care Navigator
The Breast Health Care navigator is a specialized nurse who assists women in facilitating additional testing and/or surgical appointments. She also provides emotional support as well as educational resources.
A physician referral is not required for an annual screening mammogram. Please contact your insurance company if you have questions regarding your coverage. Mammography is located in our new Imaging Services Pavilion. Admitting is located within the South Pavilion and convenient parking is available in the Emergency Center Garage.
The mammography units are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Radiation Control Program.
