The Interventional Radiology Department at Lawrence General is fortunate to have talented physicians on staff, many of whom have trained at some of the most renowned Hospitals in the country. Highly specialized procedures are currently being performed on select patients including Uterine Fibroid Embolizations. We are proud to be the only Hospital in the Merrimack Valley offering minimally invasive Chemotherapeutic Embolization and Radiofrequency Ablation procedures to treat cancer-related tumors, thereby helping to minimize hospital length of stay, minimize post-operative pain and help to return patients to their baseline level of functioning in a much shorter time frame compared with traditional surgical interventions.
Many of these procedures are done on an outpatient basis; patients recover and return home on the same day as their procedure.
The goals of the treatments are multifocal. Dialysis patients are seen frequently with the intention of restoring and maintaining proper dialysis access points to ensure continuation of their treatment. Other interventions are performed with the intention of treating specific conditions such as draining of abscesses, blood clots, uterine fibroids and cancer-related tumors and providing long term intravenous access such as PICC lines and Port-a-caths.
The members of the treatment team include highly trained interventional radiologists, radiologic technologists and dedicated nurses, among others.
