Keynote Speaker: Captain Richard Phillips
For five days in 2009, the world was glued to their TV screens as Captain Richard Phillips became the center of an extraordinary international drama when he was captured by Somali pirates who hijacked his cargo ship. This dramatic story became the basis of a book by Phillips entitled A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea, and an Academy-Award nominated film, Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks, that was released in 2013. Captain Phillips will speak about the importance of teamwork, planning, and leadership in highly effective teams.
