President's Message
Thank you for visiting our new and much-improved website. I hope you find it informative, useful, well-organized and easy to navigate, and I am pleased to see so many visitors already using this new site; we've witnessed over 290,000 page views since we launched the site in 2011.
While it's true that I'm the head of the Hospital, I think I speak objectively when I say that Lawrence General is an amazing institution with considerable momentum. For more than 135 years, the extremely dedicated doctors, nurses and staff of Lawrence General have been committed to strengthening our Hospital and our community, and at no time has this been truer than it is today. Collectively, we are driven by a single overriding goal – to make sure that you, your family, your friends and your neighbors have access to high-quality, high value, local care whenever the need arises.
Before reading on, I would encourage you to listen to the LGH stories from a couple of our grateful patients, and one of our surgeons, here. Nieves, Gene and Dr. Jones truly capture what makes Lawrence General Hospital such a strong regional medical center, and what sets us apart from so many hospitals in the region, and in the State of Massachusetts.
As a former nurse myself, I can attest to the fact that Lawrence General is truly a "jewel" of an institution with outstanding depth and breadth of clinical capabilities, and I'd like to share some of our most recent accomplishments with you:
- More than 73,000 people a year visit our Emergency Center, making it one of the busiest in all of Massachusetts. Indeed, our $20 million, 41-bay Emergency Center is a model other institutions are emulating. With an average triage time of only 14 minutes, it is also one of the most efficient;
- We have a newly formed clinical affiliation with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, greatly strengthening the scope and quality of services we offer here at Lawrence General;
- In an affiliation with the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, pediatricians from Floating Hospital are now on-site 24/7 at Lawrence General in our fully-renovated, family-friendly Pediatric Center;
- Our vastly improved level of quality has now been recognized by The Joint Commission, with a Five-Star Community Value ranking, with a Best Nursing Team Award and with improvements hospital-wide also recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts;
- We have a new $5 million Imaging Center, which houses the only "Ambient Experience" MRI technology in the state;
- We have recently expanded our services to include a new 4-suite Sleep Center, Diabetes & Nutrition Education Center and Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery (MITS) Clinic;
- Our Cardiac Cath Lab is one of the busiest and most efficient in the State, with a "door to balloon" time averaging under 65 minutes, while the "gold standard" for these cardiac procedures is 90 minutes.
Beyond these achievements and milestones, we at Lawrence General continue to develop and add new programs and services to provide you with the very best care possible. We are indeed "So good. So caring. So close."; and with your support, we're improving each and every day.
