Lawrence General Wins 2012 Lamplighter Award

The New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) recently named Lawrence General Hospital as a 2012 Lamplighter Award Winner for excellence in marketing, public relations and communications.

Lawrence General’s website won an Award of Excellence for Best Website Redesign under $100,000 for its user-friendly design, improved features, and growth in user traffic. The hospital underwent a complete website redesign in 2011 to strengthen its brand by presenting a more substantive, compelling online image of the hospital and its commitment to clinical excellence, quality of care and patient outcomes.

The new website was designed to be contemporary and intuitive, and allow its audience to navigate the content easily based on industry best practices for usability and search optimization.  Through the use of photography and graphics placed strategically on the home and secondary pages, visitors are able to make informed decisions quickly regarding the medical services available at LGH and the information they sought.  New features include improved, simple navigation for users, a free online health library, information available in both English and Spanish, live ER Wait Times fed directly to the home page for immediate access, a physician finder feature, links to social media and clinical affiliates, and more.

In order to achieve their website goals, Lawrence General Hospital partnered with 360 Branding & Communications, a marketing strategy and communications company, and SilverTech, a web design company specializing in creative design and online development.  “Our strategic objectives for the project were for the creation of an innovative and easy-to-navigate website redesign that reflects the personality of the hospital, and exudes a sense of confidence and caring that patients and visitors will experience when interacting with the website – a caring they’ll continue to experience inside our walls from our clinical staff,” states Nick Zaharias, VP of Philanthropy and Marketing for the hospital.

"The entry for Lawrence General Hospital’s Website Redesign project was an example of the best and brightest work produced in our area,” said Lee Reynolds Crouch, APR, president of NESHCo. “The entry was creative, innovative and results-driven and showcased Lawrence General Hospital extremely well.”

The Lamplighters were established in 1974 to showcase and honor excellence in health care communications in the New England region. The 2011 competition included more than 340 entries from more than 85 organizations throughout the area. Entries were judged by the Minnesota Health Strategy and Communications Network.
