Lawrence General Hospital President and CEO Dianne Anderson Appointed by Governor Baker to Take Advisory Council Seat

Lawrence General Hospital president and CEO Dianne Anderson has been appointed by Governor Charlie Baker’s office to the Council for Digital Healthcare. The council was established in November of 2016, stemming from the Massachusetts Digital Health Initiative launched earlier last year. The council convenes an impressive list of leaders from a variety of relevant industries—technology, healthcare, insurance, medical devices, life sciences, academia, and government—to focus and advise the administration on ways new digital technologies can be used to improve healthcare in the Commonwealth and create jobs, while also reducing costs.

“For Massachusetts to become a national leader in digital health, we need to continue to build on the momentum our Digital Health Initiative has already produced,” said Governor Charlie Baker at the time of the Council’s launch last fall. “This council will collaborate to move past barriers in the healthcare industry and solve significant challenges to make advances in patient care, lower health care costs, and address public health crises, like the opioid epidemic.”

Anderson was sworn in this past June at the Governor’s office, and begins her term on the council immediately. “I’m so pleased to be selected to serve the Commonwealth on this important council and helping to shape the future of healthcare,” says Anderson. “It’s such an honor to represent the patients and healthcare professionals of the Merrimack Valley in this exciting conversation.”

The Council for Digital Healthcare is co-chaired by Katie Stebbins, Assistant Secretary of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship at the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development, and Dr. Jeffrey Leiden, Chairman, president and CEO of Boston-based Vertex.

"Together, this impressive group has the expertise to identify the kind of technological opportunities that can improve healthcare delivery for our residents and keep Massachusetts on the forefront of healthcare innovation,” Anderson adds.
